Beschreibung:

 Do you want to improve your English while talking about current & interesting topics? In this course you will learn new ways to talk about relevant issues in the news and how they relate to your life.

Lesson contents
This conversation course broadens students? vocabulary in the context of discussing personal opinions and perspectives on current events in Berlin, Germany and the world (e.g. using news reports from BBC, Deutsche Welle etc.). The focus of this course is on conversational speaking skills, with lively discussions aimed at learning new vocabulary and improving fluency in a relaxed, enjoyable and respectful environment.

Who is this course for?
The course is intended for participants who have completed a B1-level course comprising at least 120 lessons or who have equivalent knowledge.

Lesson aims:
By the end of this course students will have learnt and practised new ways of keeping a conversation flowing, expressing their opinions, and finally agreeing and disagreeing and interrupting politely.

Methods
Class/group discussions with roleplay elements and for/against debates, analysis of newspaper articles and news video clips and student presentations with immediate grammar and vocabulary feedback.

Course material will be provided by the instructor; the cost of materials for copies is 3.00 EUR.

About the course instructor:

I have a very multicultural background - I was born in South Africa, moved to Australia at age 9 and for the last 14 years have considered myself a Wahlberliner. I am fascinated by my fellow humans & society and am enthusiastic about reading and languages. I studied History, Politics and German Studies at university in Sydney and Berlin and I am a certified English teacher (CELTA).

Method: I believe that learning is most successful in an atmosphere characterised by curiosity, encouragement and having fun. To further support effective learning I integrate topics that are interesting, relatable and useful for the learner into my language lessons - examples are history & politics, the workplace, sociology and psychology, among others. I look forward to helping you improve your English!
