Beschreibung:

 In this course we will go over the basics of bookbinding - materials, tools, and techniques - while exercising our inner eye. After this two day workshop you will go home with a basic, yet well-rounded knowledge of how books are made by hand and come away with your own blank books for sketching, journaling, or gifting. Our hands will be busy sewing paper together in different binding techniques as well as participating in a range of drawing activities. This course is for anyone and everyone with any skill level and will provide space for experimentation outside of step-by-step instruction.

Please bring the following materials with you: Paper and cover material in the format of your choosing, needle, thread, ruler, bone folder (alternatives: smooth pen or round, smooth plastic), awl (alternatives: thick needle, compass tool, or thumbtacks), pen, pencil. Additional costs for extra material (per person): 3 Euro, paid by the participants to the course instructor on the first day of the course.

Your course instructor: Adrian Rötzscher was born in San Francisco, CA and began learning bookbinding from a very early age. He has recently been accepted as a Meisterschüler in Book Arts at Burg Giebichenstein. In addition to this pursuit Adrian has worked as an educator and freelance artist.

 The course will be held in English. The course instructor can answer your questions in German and Spanish.
