If you have a story that's been nagging at you, this is the perfect opportunity to bring it to life. Even if you don't have a specific story in mind yet but feel something stirring deep within, we will unearth it together. Through writing, feedback, rewriting, and moments of both joy and frustration, you will experience the satisfaction of completing a piece. After all, a first draft is always better than no draft at all.
We will meet once a week, allowing you to fully commit to your writing, show up consistently, and honor your creative passion. This regular practice will help you build momentum and refine your skills. Together, we will explore a variety of literary forms, from short stories to poems. By focusing on words, sentences, and paragraphs, we aim to improve your confidence and ease in using language, while also helping you craft well-structured stories and breathe life into your characters.
The course includes reading materials, short lectures on the craft of writing, group discussions, writing exercises, workshops, and revision sessions. Be ready to read, write, share your work, and both give and receive constructive feedback. By the end of the course, you will have a solid understanding of narrative craft and will hopefully have enjoyed the creative process along the way.
Our main goal is to help you refine your writing, making it more precise, clear, and engaging, while fostering creativity and innovative language use. The course will be conducted primarily in English, but you are welcome to write in Turkish. No prior experience in creative writing is required, though enthusiasm and dedication are highly encouraged.
Key benefits:
- Immerse yourself in a new idea or make progress on an existing one.
- Expand your writing strengths.
- Learn new techniques.
- Receive positive, professional feedback on your writing.
- Optionally, publish in the collaborative zine we will produce at the end of the course.
The course is suitable for participants with language skills from Level B2.
